After an unforgettable weekend in Rio to end the unforgettable time I had in Brazil. It was time for me, Katinka and Lucas to fly back to the Netherlands. Now it's about a week ago we traveled back to the Netherlands. And I must say it's strange being back here.  At the airport we met Micael, he is going to do an internship abroad in the U.S.A. We had a good time together at the airport and with the shirt Micael gave me we took picture like a "true" Flamingo supporter is supposed to do 😜. After a final good goodbye to my good friend Micael at the airport (his gate was conceitedly close to ours) we stept on our plane. Surprisingly we didn't need to wait long before departure. We had a relax flight and because of a storm above the Amazone we got some extra wind in our back and arrived even 30 minutes earlier (I believe). At the Schiphol airport I was welcomed by my mother, sister and dog!!!! 😀 It was a very good and warm welcome. With classical Dutch weather (

The yearly event 'Semana do Fazendeiro' started at Sunday, it was a beautiful day and the sun shined bright. Let's go to this event! There where a lot of tents selling flowers and a lot of orchids of all different types. Also a place where they sell furniture with a real farmer look. Another section of the campus you could find the more technical machinery and you could even buy new cars there. At another place you could do courses, in the MU (a big event mall at the campus) there was a big market with all different stands selling cloths, food, jewelry, books and other accessories. In one tent at the campus food and accessories typical to the state of Minas Gerais was for sale. At the park of Bernardes you could find all different or alternative culture activities and things. Here they play that Sunday Colombian music named Cumbia typical to Eastern Caribbean of Colombia. And lastly there was something that supposed to be a mini farm with farm animals but basically it was j

The first week after arriving back in Viçosa passed by very quickly. I arrived back in Viçosa after 4 AM, that night or what was left of it I couldn't sleep... Because of the freezing cold, there was a freezing cold wind, Viçosa's weather was really colder than 2 weeks before. It was kind of a shock to step from the nice warm climate of Rio de Janeiro into this cold. I didn't expect I would experience this in Brazil, but he Brazil likes to surprise you. With little sleep I had that same day a forró party to end this semester and the week! Ending the week with dancing is a good way to and the week, you should try! 😄 The first 2 days back on my internship were unexpected busy. We needed to peel the dried skin of the coffee cherries. Luckily there is a machine for it, but nevertheless it took a whole day! The second day we needed to weight the beans following various ways. But afterwards I could finally start writing on my rapport again. And I'm happy to say I deli

I was really looking forward to this. As much as I like Viçosa I wanted to see something more than just Viçosa and surroundings. The past 2 weeks I traveled with my parents. It was very nice to see them again, of course I missed them. And maybe my mam missed me even more! We met each other at the airport of Rio de Janeiro, from where our journey together began. Room with a view! I started my journey in Viçosa after a relax beginning of the day, I had the bus to Rio de Janeiro from 10 o'clock. While my parents were already a few hours in the air. The bus took very long, about 8 hours. At first I didn't really know what to expect from Rio de Janeiro city. I knew it is an enormous city with 7 million inhabitants and during working hours another 5 million people enter the city!! I thought about the safety in such a big city and of course about the favelas. When the bus entered the city it passes a lot of favelas and other poor neighborhoods. Along the road people were livi
